About Taj Museum
The Taj Museum is tucked inside the Taj Mahal complex, on the western side of the gardens. Many visitors walk past it, but it's worth half an hour to understand how the monument was imagined and built.
The collection includes miniature portraits of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, fine calligraphy, Mughal-era coins, weapons, and architectural drawings. One of the most talked-about exhibits is a set of celadon plates, which were believed to change colour or crack if poisoned food was served on them.
Entry is included with your Taj Mahal ticket, so it's an easy add-on to your visit.
